CONSISTENT SOUL WINNING

Soul winning is God’s plan to bring lost sinners to Christ for salvation. The term ‘’soul –winning’’ simply refers to the practice of trying to lead lost sinners to the Lord Jesus Christ for salvation (Matthew 28:16-20).

But we cannot accelerate the great commission without personal evangelism (Soul Winning)

QUESTION 1: Four (4) reasons why every believer/ worker must personally engage in consistent soul winning:

         i.          Jesus, the Author and Finisher of our faith focused more on personal evangelism               (Soul winning) by taking His time to demonstrate it:

a.     The encounter that brought about the first female evangelist in the gospel of John and sometimes called the first female evangelist in the new testament and the salvation of the whole city of Samaria came as a result of personal evangelism demonstrated by our Lord Jesus Christ with the Samaritan woman.(John 4:5-43)

b.     Zacheaus, a tax collector at Jericho, mentioned only in the Gospel of Luke was another example of Jesus personal earthly mission to bring salvation to the lost (Luke19:1-10)

       ii.          For effective witnessing and abundant results, consistent personal soul winning is            required.

Apostle Paul who was the least of the Apostles (1corithians 15:9), boldly declared, ‘I laboured more abundantly than they all’ (1 Corinthians 15:10).His achievements and success through his consistent personal soul winning makes him the greatest among the other apostles.

 Paul says ‘’And how I kept back nothing that was profitable unto you, but have showed you, and have taught you publicly, and from house to house,

Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ’’. (Act 20:20 & 21)

     iii.          Because it glorifies God: John 15:8 says: ‘‘Herein is my father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples’’.

 Fruit bearing (soul winning) is a way of God taking glory and pleasure in us, Revelation 4:11 says: Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created’’

      iv.          Because our hands will be stained with the blood of the lost if we refuse to warn them. The lord said: When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul.

(Ezekiel 3:18 & 19).

QUESTION 2: Four (4) BENEFITS/REWARDS a believer/worker stands to gain from                      consistent soul winning.

       I.          Divine presence and Love

The scripture says ‘‘therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the father and of the son and of the Holy Spirit.

Teach these new disciple to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age’’ (Mathew 28:19 &20).

This promise of Christ’s presence was given together with His command to win souls. The promise and command go together.

Christ said that He will show His Love to the Christian who obeys Him and wins souls. He said,

‘’He that hath my commandments, and Keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him’’ (John 14:21).

Soul winning is a command of Christ. The Christian who obeys his Lord and works hard to win souls will experience the presence and love of Christ in a special way.

     II.          Prayer Answers:

One of the conditions attached to prayer answers is soul winning - Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you and ordained you, that ye should go and bring forth fruit (win soul) and that your fruit remain: that whatsoever ye shall ask of the father in my name he may give it to you (John 15:16).

The soul winner has a hot line to heaven. God answers the prayers of a soul winner as a matter of priority. And whatsoever we ask, we receive of Him, because we keep His commandments, and do those things that are pleasing in His sight. (1 John 3:22)’’

    III.          Long Life: God preserves the soul winner. The unfaithful are discarded, cut off and dumped in the fire. ‘‘Every branch in me that beareth not fruit He taketh away: And every branch that beareth fruit, He purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Psalm 118:17 says ‘‘I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the LORD’’.

The major work God wants us to declare most is the work of Jesus Christ on the cross of Calvary. God has no obligation to prolong the lives of those who do not declare his works.

   IV.          Divine Honour and Beautification

Beyond this life on earth, the Bible promises heavenly rewards to those who win souls. When Christ comes to set up His kingdom, the faithful soul winner will receive honour and rewards from the saviour Himself. When He comes, Jesus will say to the faithful in soul winning, ‘’well-done, thou good and faithful servant: thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will make you the ruler over many things: enter thou into the joy of the lord’’ (Matthew 25:21).

God beautifies the soul winners. Soul winners shine as stars ‘‘and they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness, as the stars forever and ever’’ (Daniel 12:3).

What does it mean to turn people to righteousness? It means to win soul! Who are those human instruments that God uses to turn people to righteousness? Soul winner. Who are those who will shine as the stars for ever and ever? Soul winners.

QUESTION 3: Give One (1) reason WHY consistent soul winning must be treated by every believer/worker as VERY URGENT.

Today is the day of salvation: ‘‘Behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation’’ (2 Corinthians 6:2).When the allotted time for man’s repentance has expired, then judgment is unavoidable and this we must consistently warn. The Lord said: ‘‘When I say unto the wicked, Thou shalt surely die; and thou givest him not warning, nor speakest to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life; the same wicked man shall die in his iniquity; but his blood will I require at thine hand.

Yet if thou warn the wicked, and he turn not from his wickedness, nor from his wicked way, he shall die in his iniquity; but thou hast delivered thy soul’’. (Ezekiel 3:18 & 19).

QUESTION 4: Suggest One (1) irresistible REWARD that a church/ministry

 may consider as a very attractive incentive to motivate members/workers into  

consistent soul winning.

 Peter asking similar question ‘‘Then answered peter and said unto Him, Behold, we have

forsaken all, and followed thee; what shall we have therefore (Reward)?

And Jesus said unto them, Verily I say unto you, that ye which have followed me, in the

regeneration when the Son of man shall sit in the throne of his glorify, ye also shall sit upon

twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel

And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren or sisters, or father, or mother, or

wife, or children, or lands, for my name’s sake, shall receive an hundredfold, and shall

inherit everlasting life’’. (Mathew 19:27-29)

I think the best motivation any Church/ministry can give to any member to motivate them

into soul winning is by opening their eyes to this truth. The Bible says ‘‘and ye shall know the

truth, and the truth shall make you free’’

Hebrew 6:10 says ‘‘For God is not unrighteous to forget your work and labour of love, which

ye have shown toward his name, in that ye have ministered to the saints, and do minister’'.
